Ghost (dealer)Ships

It’s something we here in New York City don’t see ...

the acres of exposed asphalt and the hollow cavernous structures that remain when car dealerships close.

Happened upon these three scenes during a recent weekend up in the Berkshires. The emptiness was stunning.

For grim images of another kind on this subject, check out these maps of dealership closings at the New York Times site and Huffington Post.
Unfortunately, when you go down to the street level on these maps, there are still cars on the lots, so I've started a Flickr group for pix of Closed Car Dealerships. Feel free to add any photos you have of these ghost dealer(ships).

Beautiful New Year!

Tonight begins Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. Just about 100 years ago, between 1910 and 1912, the Wiener Werkstätte produced a series of cards with textile designs from various artists and a greeting in Hebrew and German. You can see more details on the Jewish Museum website.
